Templates and Turbo Lister
eBay has created a free auction management tool for Windows users called Turbo Lister.
You can download Turbo Lister at:
http://pages.ebay.com/turbo_lister/
eBay says:
eBay Turbo Lister is a FREE listing tool to help you create professional-looking listings, as well as upload and edit items in bulk. Try the latest version of Turbo Lister that makes listing on eBay easier than ever.
• Easy bulk listing and editing capability
• Search tools to find items fast
• Toolbar and special views for better control of your
listings
Our purpose here is to show you how to use your templates that you build with Auction Template Builder in Turbo Lister. For information and help on the other features of Turbo Lister I will leave that up to eBay.
You can find the eBay Turbo Lister Resource Guide at:
http://pages.ebay.com/turbolister/upgrade/
Once you have Turbo Lister downloaded and installed on your computer you are ready to add a template to Turbo Lister.
You will get a window like or similar to the following when you open Turbo Lister:

Click the New button (Red
Circle) shown above.
That will open the following box:

Click Create New Template (Red
Rectangle) above.
That will open the following window:

A template is just that, a template, a place to start to save time getting an auction ready to list. You can enter as much or as little information as you like to have as a starting point each time you are ready to sell something. If you sell lots of different things every once-in-awhile then you may only want several templates saved with limited information because you don’t know yet what the item will be or anything about it.
If you sell one family of items or the same item over and over, you can have a template or many templates ready for each one with all of the information ready to go.
So, enter however much information you would like then scroll down to bring the Description Builder Window into view.
NOTE:
You must enter a Title. It is used as the name of your template.
(Red
Rectangle) Shown in the following window.

This is where you will paste your code generated from Auction Template Builder.
After you paste your code into the Description Builder window it will look like the following:

At this point you can preview your page by clicking the center preview icon shown in the
(Green
Circle) above.
The following window will open to let you preview your page.

Close the window by clicking the in the top right corner of the window or the Close button in the lower right of the window.
There is also the Description Builder button (Red
Rectangle) 2nd image above that will open the following window. The window opens in the Preview mode.

Notice the three tabs in the (Red
Rectangle) above. These provide you a way to edit your page with two different methods and notice the window opened in the Preview mode, the way your page will look as a live auction.
The two editing methods are Design View and HTML View.
Design View, shown below allows you to edit your text in a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) fashion. No HTML code involved.

The HTML View, shown below allows you to edit your page on the HTML code level. If you did Auction Template Builder right you should not need to worry about working in this screen. But, you will find that before long you will be right in there adjusting code to suit your needs.

There are two things worth mentioning here, Pictures and Inserts. First, in the image above under the HTML code view you will see the word Pictures with a row of clickable boxes below it
(Red
Rectangle). You can add images at the bottom of your page with these. When you add an image here it also sets it to be used for the eBay Gallery.
When you click one of the “Click Here To Insert a Picture” boxes it will open the following
screen.

Notice that I put an image URL in the Picture 1 field. You can preview your image right here by clicking the Preview button
(Red
Rectangle) just to the right of the URL to make sure it is the right image and that the link works just fine.
This is what the Preview looks like below.

Below is what the added image looks like tagged on below your template code by using the Preview tab.

Well, enough of images. You can play around with them on your own now that you know about them. The thing is, you can mess around in Turbo Lister, add and remove, change things and preview to see what happened when you changed something, but until you click save, nothing gets messed up. So experiment, you will learn a lot.
The 2nd thing I thought worth mentioning is Inserts. I am only going to talk about this feature now using text only in Design View. However, it will save and place small HTML code scripts as well in HTML View.

First thing to do is create an insert. At the left of the insert field
(Red
Rectangle) above click the down arrow
(Green
Circle) to open the box. Then click “Create an Insert”
(Yellow
Arrow) to open the following
window.

Look at the screen above. Make up a name and type it in the Insert Name field. Then enter the text you want to Insert into the “Enter your text” field. Then click the Save button. The window will close on it’s own.
For our purpose here I have already created an Insert called “Template Insert”. See the
(Yellow
Arrow) below. That is where any inserts you create will show
up.

Now let’s place an insert into our page. In Design View, using the right side scroll bar, scroll down to where you want to place your insert. I chose Description area of my page. See
below.

Put your cursor where you want to insert your Insert. See the
(Yellow
Arrow) above. I will place my insert text just before the Y of Your.

Now, click the little down arrow to open the box as before. All we do now to put our insert text where we put our cursor
(Green
Circle) above, is click the name of our insert
(Yellow
Arrow). The following screen is what happens.

In the screen above I have underlined the text that was inserted with one quick click. If you don’t like your insert or got it in the wrong place, no problem, just select the text with your mouse and hit delete. Your right back to where you started. Once you are happy with your insert, click the Save
button.
That’s it for side trips, back to getting a template into Turbo Lister.
Close the Description Builder Window by clicking the in the top right corner of the window or the Cancel button in the lower right of the window.
We are now back to the Create Template window of Turbo Lister with all our code showing in the Description Builder box and at least we have entered a Title for our template. I called mine Auction Template 1.
See (Red
Rectangle) on the screen below.

The last thing we need to do is Save our template. We want to save our work as a Template not an Item. So, click the Save
(Green
Rectangle) button above. The Template builder screen will disappear and you will be back to the main Turbo Lister screen with our new template showing up ready to use anytime we need it. See screen below.
